Fall is here but RED is everywhere !

It has not been very exciting around here so I thought I would write about my Mom and Dad - So here it goes.

Mom and Dad invited around 85,000 of their closest friends to join them at the BIG RED HUSKER GAME yesterday at the University of Nebraska.  Sure a lot more then the 12-15 people who come to our house for HUSKER GAMES.   Ruthie and I didn't get to go.  We had to stay in the mud room all day but Mom and Dad left us toys to play with along with our nightly beds. Before Mom and Dad left though they took us on a run around the lake.  It was a first since we usually just walk around the lake on the weekends.  I heard Mom say that she wanted to run out our energy so that we would take a long nap when they were gone.  Ruthie slept most of the day but I got bored.

Right before Mom and Dad left we helped them get Herbie Husker out.  He is differant then LITTLE RED.  Dad said this was the old maskot for the HUSKERS.   Little Red had to stay home.

The Great Excape - Little Red spotted at the Game
When Mom and Dad got back from the game they said they saw Little Red.  He must have hitched a ride and found his way to the game.  Mom and Dad checked on him in the garage when they got back and he was home,   They asked us if we let him out and Ruthie and I said "no"  We never left the mud room.

After we had dinner there was still more football to watch with Dad.  Ruthie and I like bonding with Dad.  I even gave Dad a high 5 !!

It is BIG RED time in Nebraska

I am back :) I have been sooooo frustrated trying to write on my blog. The pictures my Mom works sooo hard to take and load for me so I can use them on my blog would NOT upload. Mom talked to lots and lots of people on the phone since I can't - I only know of one human who understands puppy talk - to get the problem fixed. Hope things are OK now ??

The last two weeks have been all about things RED
It is BIG RED FOOTBALL again and that means DAD is all about the HUSKERS.   Let me share a few pictures -

Little RED was not a happy camper

Mom spent lots of time in the kitchen lately.  She made jelly which smelled like strawberries then made that smelly stuff she calls pickle relish.  I asked Mom if Ruthie and I could go out on the deck again when she was making that relish thing.  It took almost all day to get the icky smell out of the house.  Mom said I shouldn't be so picky about the smell since I love to smell poo and eat poo snacks.  I told her it was an acquired taste.

My favorite package in the whole wide world arrived again last week.  The UPS guy remembered me from when he delivered my Science Diet to the farmstead.  Since we only moved about 5 miles from the farmstead to here at the lake he is the same delivery guy.  Mom and I talked to him when he came and I gave him my blog address since he couldn't understand puppy talk.  Dad came home from a long day at work and I had to buddy up to him and get him to help me open the box.

Mom took me and Ruthie on our first run around the lake together.  Ruthie and I have gone around the lake walking with both Mom and Dad but never just with Mom running.  Mom put my leash on then hooked Ruthie's leash up to my collar.  Mom would tell me to heal and I would tell Ruthie to heal.  I like being the teacher instead of the student.  Mom said if the rain stops today she will take us again on a run.

Ruthie had her yearly doctor appointment and Mom said it was a "Teaching Moment" so I had to go along.   I will say and I hope Mom doesn't see this but it was a fiasco.   I kept up the tradition of getting car sick - three times matter of fact.   Twice going there and once coming back.   Mom gets upset with me because I refuse to get in the car by myself but why would I want to ??  I wish Mom understood puppy talk and I could tell her how icky it is to get car sick - why would she think I would want to ride in the car ?  Mom said I showed my bad habits most of the time we were at the Vet.  Ruthie on the other hand was an angel Mom said.   Ruthie is an old lady - about 42 years in dog years - I am just 7 in dog years and still in my learning years.   However, I heard Ruthie whimpering when she got her nails trimmed.  I told Mom Ruthie cried but that I was a trooper but she will  never know because she was outside cleaning up the car when I had my nails done.

Mom stopped at Petsmart and bought some new toys for Ruthie and I.  I really like the pacifier.  Hope this doesn't make me look like a baby !

Things sure have Changed around here

Mom and Dad got a new computer a while back and I have not been able to get on to write lately so I have a little catching up to do.  Mom got a new thing she calls an iPad and plays with that more now so maybe I will get more time back on the computer ??

Let me catch you up -

Dad finally got to fly his American Flag.  He is soooo proud of it.  Mom and Dad had to work on it together to get it up so it wouldn't touch the ground.  I told Dad Ruthie and I would help but we only got to watch.  They put a BIG light on it so it shines at night.

Next came some people Mom called contractors ?  Not sure what that means but these people were with a company called "Bob Shaffer Painting" and they made some BIG changes around the house.  Pictures will tell the story so here it goes -

This is how the House looked when Mom & Dad bought it

Ruthie and I went on our usual walks with Mom along with a new person - Ms. Phyllis.  We stopped at the loading dock and Ms. Phyllis threw a few sticks for me.  She thought I was a superb jumper !!  I was kind of showing off.   I heard Mom telling Ms. Phyllis that one things she dislikes about moving back to the lake is  POO patrol.  Mom takes these bags with her and each time Ruthie and I do the BIG "hurry up"  she picks them up.  I am glad I don't have that JOB !!

It is FALL in NEBRASKA and Dad is getting all excited about HUSKER FOOTBALL.  I kind of remember it a little bit from last fall but I was just a baby back then. I got to get up on the couch and watch with dad.  This year I only got to watch from in front of the TV.  Mom said I was to BIG now to set in laps and watch.  I do remember though Dad jumping and yelling last year and he was true to himself and did the same this year.  It was FUN and EXCITING though !  Ruthie and I tried to sneak a few snacks but Dad was keeping an eye out on us and only the HUSKERS scored and not us.

Before the game Dad, Mom, Ruthie and I went outside to put Little Red up.  I  am not scared of him this year.  I was even trying to help by picking up the stakes but Mom told me it was better if I just watched.   We all went for a walk before the game but things did not turn out to good.  We headed out then stopped at the boat dock so Ruthie and I could swim and catch a few sticks but when we got ready to leave I wasn't ready so I started to run off and knocked Mom off her feet and she got a BOO BOO  !!  Mom was not a happy camper and really didn't talk to me much after that.  She only paid attention to Ruthie so I will remember not to do that again.

After the game it was my monthly meds time.  Mom gets a reminder from KSDS each month to give it to me.  Something to do with my heart but I don't know what ?  Wish Mom would just give me the chewy and not make it such a big deal and make it a "training moment".  I have to sit say - down stay before she will give it to me and if I move we start all over again.

Mom hasn't taken me out on many "training trips" lately.  Just the usual - Hy-Vee and Walmart.  Mom says it is just tooo HOT again to venture out plus I think the hot car makes me get car sick faster.  I am about 50-50 now with getting car sick. Maybe when we start going out when it is cooler things will improve.  Mom wants a new car now that Dad got one but she said not until I stop getting car sick or she will just have to wait till I go back to KSDS for college.

Happy Labor Day Weekend from Ruthie & ME !!
