It turned Summer again in Nebaska

I thought Mom said it was Fall and it sure was starting to smell and look like it but we have been doing some summer things.  We have been going on extra walks with Mom because it has been in the 80s and she said our time going out and swimming will be coming to an end soon.

 Mom and Dad went boating this week.  I heard her say it is October 1st and in the 80s.  Nothing like Nebraska weather ??  Dad had to add some gas because they were letting it run low before winterizing it.  Ruthie and I had to watch from the back deck. 

 

 Mom decorated outside this week with a whole bunch of stuff that looked orange.  Ruthie and I got to hang out with her for awhile then after I chased a squirrel down the road we had to go in.  Ruthie told me this would happen but chasing the squirrel was just too tempting.  Never did catch him. 

 

 

 Mom and Dad went to a BIG RED FOOTBALL game !!  Last year Ruthie and I had to have a babysitter while they were gone but this year Mom said we were grown up enough to stay by ourselves.  Mom put our beds and extra toys in the mud room along with a toy that we had to push around and try and get treats out of it.  They left when it was light outside and got home when it was dark so they were gone a long time.  Mom and Dad took the Little Red guy who usually stays in our front yard during the game to Lincoln with them.  I wish we could have gone too!!

Yesterday we had to get up and going bright and early.  Dad said we needed to be out on our walk so we could be home before the HUSKERS played.  It seems like everything revolves around football on game day.  It wasn't in the 80s anymore but still a nice day.  Windy though.  We didn't get to swim because Dad wanted to get back to the house.  When we got back Dad had a talk with us about not bothering him during the game and we shook on it.  We got a nice treat after the game.  Don't know if it was becuse we behaved ourselves or becuse the HUSKERS won !

 

I need to tell you about two exciting things from my Alma Mater KSDS Guide/Service College.  First a new litter of puppies went out to some veteran puppy raisers and a few new puppy raisers.   These newbies will be the class of 2015.  I remember the day I met my Mommy.  It is a fun but scary time.  Everything in your world drastically changes but puppy raisers Mommies/Daddies are sooooo understanding and loving that we forget about living with our four legged sisters and brothers.

It is starting to smell like Fall

Boy, I thought fall was never going to get here but finally this weekend it is starting to feel like it.  It has been sooooo HOT here that Mom has been taking us down to the beach just about every day to cool off then we spend time out on the deck drying off.  We can only spend a few minutes out there though since it is directly in the sun but it sure makes it feel good drying off.

 

Today it is kind of cool and rainy so don't know if we will get to go for our Sunday morning walk.  Yesterday when we were out for our walk it was sure chilly when we got out of the water.   Ruthie and I had to do a lot of puppy shaking to get the water out of our coat so we wouldn't be cold walking the rest of the way home.


Mom made salsa again this week along with jalapeno jelly.  The house smelled icky when she was making the salsa then soooo sweet when making the jelly. I found out that the green things Mom uses to make jalapeno jelly are not good to eat if she drops one on the floor.  Won't do that again.  Ruthie told me not to eat it but I thought she was trying to fool me so when I wasn't looking she was going to eat it. 

 

Little Red was here again for the HUSKER football game on Saturday.  It was an early game so everyone was up and moving in the morning.   Little Red was not a happy camper !!!  Dad said from how Little Red behaved you can tell what the outcome of the game was ?? 

 

 

 

Ruthie had to go to the doctor for her physical this week.  The Doc said she had lost some weight and it would be OK to feed her a little more food at least while we are still out walking and swimming so much.  To be fair I get a little more too.  Mom also bought some shoes for us which I am not sure I really like.  Ruthie hasn't said much about them but I have been trying to tell Mom I really don't like them but as always she doesn't understand puppy talk.  Mom explained to me since I have an issue sometimes walking on the wood floors and slip sliding away these shoes will help. 

Better get going !!  I heard Mom say the rain has kind of let up so if we are going for our walk we need to get moving.  I love our weekend walks !!

 



Labor Day Weekend

I heard Mom and Dad talking that Labor Day is the last Holiday of the summer.  I hope that doesn't mean swimming in the lake is over.  We have spent the last two days down on the beach swimming and fetching balls and since today is a holiday I think we will get to play some more !!

Mom and Dad had family over yesterday and everyone spent lots and lots of time down on the beach.  I spread my time out playing with just bout everyone but Ruthie really feel in love with a guy named Pete.  She followed him around all night.  Silly pup !!  

 

 

 

 

 Mom and Dad got the BBQ grill out and stated a big fire in it and put some really good smelling stuff on it.  Thought it would include Ruthie and I but we got our regular puppy food - just out on the deck though.

 

 

 

 

After dinner Ruthie and I got some really good HUGS from our cousins.  I heard their Mom say they will sleep good tonight with all of the lake swimming and Mom said we would probably too.  I think Ruthie already started her snoozing before we went in for bed time.

 

 



The Dog Days of Summer are winding down and that means NEBRASKA football.  A guy named LITTLE RED  came over - He only visits on football days and hung out in the front yard.  Mom and Dad had a few two legged friends over to watch the game.  I thought maybe some four legged friends might come too but it was not the case.  Ruthie and I stayed upstairs and they all went downstairs but the game must have been exciting since we could hear them hooping it up for about three hours.

Dog Days of Summer

Wondering where I have been ??  Enjoying a lazy summer at the lake  !!

I LOVE our weekend walks with Mom, Dad and Ruthie.  We walk around the lake then stop at the boat dock and swim.  Dad throws out sticks that we have picked up along the way - I LOVE to run and jump off the dock and fetch mine.  Ruthie is a wimp and just swims out to get hers.   We spend time down on our beach when Mom is down there watering or picking weeds.  Ruthie and I have figured out where the tennis balls are stored so we don't  have to wait for Mom to get them - just to throw them in the lake for us.

 

 

Mom's small garden here at the lake has finally started producitng !!  Nothing like when we lived on the farmstead but Mom says she planted the necessities.  Next summer instead of focusing on remodeling of the house Mom will focus on expanding her garden.

Ruthie had to visit the Emergency Doctor.  Mom noticed a small patch of hair that seemed odd so she investigated and found what she called a Hot Spot.  This was on a Friday.  She put some medication on it but the next day it had expanded and Mom was really concerned.  Since it was a Saturday and our regular doctor's office was not open Ruthie had to go to the Emergency one.  When Ruthie was there the Vet notice an even larger hot spot under her chin.  Needless to say - Ruthie is on three meds and NO swimming !!!   Mom is being fair and since Ruthie can't swim - I can't either.  I don't think that is fair but since Mom still doesn 't understand puppy talk it is what it is !!

 

Mom and Dad are having fun out on the lake but Ruthie and I have to stay up on the deck and watch.  I am counting down the days that we get to go swimming again.  Mom bought special collars for us to wear now that won't harbor icky germs when we swim but the Vet told her to still take off our collars when we are done swimming till we dry off. 

 

Mom is making things in the kitchen that make the house SMELL !!  Something call pickle relish and salsa.  After she is done cooking and canning she burns candles that make the house smell like flowers.  Mom is making cinnamon cucumbers now and the whole house smells wonderful.  I wonder if we will get any ??
