Where did Summer GO !!

We are back up in the communication world.  Mom got a new computer about 10 days ago along with Dad getting one at work right before that.  Mom has spent lots and lots of time setting them up.  She keeps talking to some one called "Geek Squad."  Mom also bought an IPad and when she left it out on the table I tried to check it out.  Mom caught me and said it was OFF LIMITS !!

Boy - It was COLD swimming out here this week !!!  Mom said the temps were down in the 50s & 60s in the mornings and it felt more like fall than summer !!  I am not ready for fall - Ruthie and I like swimming to much.

It has kind of been boring around here.  Mom said after the temps cooled down we would go out and double up on "Training Moments"  We have been out to Hy-Vee, the Outddoor Mall and the old stand by as Mom says - Walmart but Mom said I was not the best behaving camper.  I keep telling Mom I don't like the gentle lead and she just either still does not understand puppy talk or thinks I like it.  I know it hangs in the garage.  If I could only figure out how to open doors I would go out there at night and hide it.  Maybe I will see if Ruthie has learned to open doors ?

My two legged sister Aunna came over and Mom and Aunna went out on the rowing boats.  I wanted to go but Mom said I would probably tip the boat over.  Ruthie, Dad and I watched from the beach.  When they got back Dad and Mom went out.  Ruthie and I played crazy dog on the beach and I jumped off of the boat dock fetching the sticks.

This week Dad finally had his flag pole installed at the lake.  He has been waiting since we moved in.  Ruthie and I had to watch from the deck at they installed it.  Mom said it was really tall and she didn't want it to fall on us.  Dad hopes to put the flag up today for the first time.  He said Ruthie and I can help.  Dad also bought a new car.  Ruthie and I only get to look at it in the garage.  It is off limits to dogs and puppies.  I heard Dad say he spent time at the gas station during the first rain storm we have had in months.  It looked like it was snowing outside.  Mom said I was a trooper during the thunder storm, hail and wind - Ruthie was a wimp !! 

Mom harvested zucchini this week and made zucchini cookies and muffins.  It smelled so good in the house.  Ruthie and I stayed right under her feet being hopeful - We scored once as a cookie fell on the floor.  Mom also made and canned something called pickle relish and the house stunk !!  Mom finally got the hint and let Ruthie and I out on the deck. 

Mom and Dad spent lots of time outside working on the yard.  Sometimes Ruthie and I got to come out and watch/play and other times when we would not listen and would run off we had to watch from the deck however Dad would always spend time with us when they were done.  I heard Mom and Dad talking about someone called a contractor  coming and doing a  bunch of work. 

Last weekend I went to my first concert !!  They have them every Friday night at the outdoor Mall near our house.  Mom and dad have gone several times but Ruthie and I had to stay home.  I asked if Ruthie could come to the concert with us but Mom said only Puppies in training could go.  I had a nice time with Mom and Dad but wasn't to keen about all of the people there.  It was very crowed and hard to walk around.  I asked Mom if we could dance like we did when we went to another party but she said my dancing skills need some working on.  After the concert we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner.  Mom saw some old friends there.

Need to go.  We are getting ready for our weekend walk.  I sooooooo love going on these with Dad, Ruthie AND Mom !!

A Look Back

HOT - HOT - HOT
It was soooo HOT this week that Ruthie and I didn't even get to go swimming much.  The sand burns our pads then it is soooo HOT on the deck that we can't stay out there and dry off.  I can't read the thing Mom reads to know what the temps are but I heard her say it was around 100+ everyday. 

Mom and I didn't go out this week for "Training Moments"   I am glad since I already have a fur coat on then I have to wear a coat when we are out training.   Mom is concerned I might be regressing on my schooling so she said when the temps cool down we will have to double up on training.

I love this HOT - HOT weather most of the time !!  It means Ruthie and I get to go swimming just about every day.  Mom had her camera with her several times when we were out and finally got a picture of me flying off of the boat dock fetching a stick.  It is sooooo much FUN !!

Mom and me only went out once this week for training because of the HOT temps.  We were going to go to an evening  baseball game - a first for me - on Thursday but with the temps still in the 90s we stayed home.  Mom said we would still go to one before I have to go back to college at KSDS. 

Mom bought some gentle tearless shampoo and dogie perfume for me since I have to take a bath before I go out for training moments.  I must admit I kind of have an odor about me but after Mom gives me a bath I smell like vanilla.   I take my baths outside now and the cool water feels sooooo good.   I feel a little naked with my hair all trimmed off after my trip to the groomers last week but it sure does feel cooler.  Mom said it will grow back by the time cooler weather sets in.

Mom worked in her office a lot this week.  She told Ruthie and I she needed to catch up on her office work.  Mom does Dad's books for his business.   I like watching the birds out the office window.  Ruthie usually sleeps under Mom's desk.   If Mom spends too much time in the office Ruthie and I get bored and go out in the living room and play.  Our favorite game to play is tug-of-war.  After that it is All Star wrestling. 

Yesterday was the Lake's Annual Luau.  Mom said I would be going with them for a "Training Moment"   However, first we went on a long walk around the lake to burn up some energy.  There were lots and lots of people there along with music, fireworks and tempting food to scarf up on the ground.   I even got a dancing lesson with my two legged sister Aunna.  She said I was a better dancer than Mom.  We stayed out till late - past my bed time but it was sure fun.   I wish Ruthie could have come with us but Mom said only puppies in training could come.

Summer Vacation

Mom said Summer Vacation is about over and I need to start working on my skills more diligently.  Need to have all of my obedience skills well establish before I head off to college at KSDS even though it is still a bit away.   Mom  told me there is an entrance exam before you can attend college at KSDS and you need to pass with flying colors to be admitted.

Let me tell you about my vacation -

Ruthie and I have been spending lots of time with Dad.  He likes to come home and take us outside and unwind.  Not sure how you wind up but I sure like spending time with him unwinding.  We might spend time with Dad on the deck with a drink - I only get water since I am still underage - or we go down to the beach swimming and fetching sticks in the lake.   Mom said I am soooooo cool.  I am the only service puppy she has raised that will run and jump off the dock and fetch a stick.  Mom has tried to snap a picture of me so I can share but just has not caught me in mid-air yet.

A BIG test for me - July 4th


Another Holiday came and went and it was a blast !!  Mom and Dad talked to me about Independence Day and what it means to Americans along with talking to me about what happens at night with things called fireworks.  Ruthie said she would stay by my side and watch just in case I got scared of the LOUD noises.  I am proud to say I passed with flying colors - I think better than Ruthie.


Mom likes to decorate for July 4th so we spent the morning of July 3rd decorating.  The fire works at the lake are on July 3.  Ruthie and I had to watch from inside of the house because I decided to test out the lights Mom was putting on the bushes and ruined two of them.  Mom was not a happy camper.  Mom put lots of flags and banners out and Ruthie and I thought the house looked cool.  Guests arrived later in the day and before the fireworks Dad started up the grill and we had a BBQ however my food seemed to taste the same but we did get to eat outside with the other guests.   When it got dark the FUN began.  Ruthie and I did have to watch from inside but the the show was GREAT  !!

On July 4th we spent most of the day outside or in the water.  We played with Hutch - he is a lab who lives next door along with some of Hutch's two legged friends.   I think I might have a crush on Hutch but I am not going to let him know because Ruthie says I am too young for him.  He is Ruthie's age around 6 years.  Maybe he might have a crush on Ruthie ??  Hutch has a home outside that he spends time in so Ruthie and I get to see him when we go out to "Hurry-up".  I usually say "Hi" to him. 

After July 4th it has been playing, swimming and some great walks with Mom and Dad.   Sometimes when we are out walking we get to play with our friends at the lake beach.  Mom calls them play dates.  There are BIG ones and small ones and I like them all.  I do have my favorites but I am not telling.  Mom says I should be friendly to everyone and not pick favorites.  I really like it when we are at the beach and I get to RUN and jump off the boat loading dock and fetch the sticks.  It feels like I am flying before I land on my belly flopping on the water.  I hope Mom can get a picture of me sometime so I can share. 

This week our beach was kind of off limits.  There was a BIG boat that pulled up with a BIG machine  on it with a BIG shovel.  Dad said that Ruthie and I are great excavators but I think the BIG machine was much better then us.

 Ruthie and I had to watch from the deck because Mom didn't want us to get buried in the sand.   The BIG machine dug out sand from the lake and put it up on the beach along with digging out a BIG long black thing and buried it deeper in the sand.  It was a mess down there for a while.  I heard Dad say they would be spending most of the weekend on the beach racking and tilling the new sand in and I hope that means Ruthie and I will get to spend time with them swimming and playing ??  I heard on the TV it is to be a HOT weekend !!

Ruthie and I went back to our hair place this week.  AKA our groomers.  Mom said we STUNK !!  I had a first !!!  Instead of just getting my hair washed I got it cut like Ruthie does.  That was strange and from what I heard the groomer say to Mom when she picked us up I was not the best behaved camper but since it was my first time at it they said that was normal.  Mom forgot her camera so I don't have a picture to share but I will tell you all of my nice long hair is now gone.  Ruthie and I kind of look like Hutch the lab next door.  


Since I smell nicer I went out with Mom this week on several "Training moments".  We also visited my two legged sister Aunna at her apartment however we had to stay outside because she has two kitties and they were not to pleased to see me.   I could see them through the glass door and they were making funny noises at me.  Baby our kitty at home doesn't do that.

Last but not least my favorite package arrived in the mail.  Science Diet.  I was concerned that the UPS guy might not know where we moved to but all is OK !!
